Enchanted Learning Make Your Own Timeline More Crafts You can create a timeline for anything, your own life, the life of a historical figure, the history of a country, etc.

Supplies needed:

Paper Pen or pencil A ruler Optional: Printer

Either draw your own timeline or print one. To draw your own timeline, start by turning a piece of paper sideways. Draw a horizontal line across the paper, near the top. Divide it into as many sections as you need (for example, if you're doing a timeline of your life, you could divide the line into sections for each year of your life - e.g., if you're 12 years old, make 12 sections). If your timeline has one time period that has more interesting events than the others, you can expand one section (or more) in order to include extra events (see the illustration to the left).

You can now complete your timeline. After doing research on your topic, put in the dates (first figure out the earliest and latest date, then put in the intermediate dates). Then add the event(s) that happened at each important date. For an example of a simple timeline (about George Washington), click here. If you're doing a timeline documenting your own life, the timeline should start at the year of your birth and go until the current year. Be sure to include your birth, when you started school, and other important events in your life (like moving to a new town, going on a great vacation, joining a club, performing in a school play, winning a contest, etc.). Optional: Add drawings or small photos to illustrate important events on your timeline.
