K-1 Zoo Animals Quiz Activity Instructions:
Depending on the level of the students, you can have them tell you the answers out loud (after raising their hand), or have them write the answers down, copying the words from the dictionary. If you like, you can keep score of which person (or group) finds the most answers. |
The students will do their work at a computer (or in small groups of 2 to 3 students at a computer). The teacher asks the students (some of) the questions listed below.
To answer the questions, the students must go to the right page in the dictionary by clicking on the correct letter at the top of the Little Explorers page. They will then look at the pictures on the page to answer the question.
1. This huge animal has wrinkled gray skin, a long trunk, and big ears. Its name starts with "E." What is its name? Answer: Elephant
2. This huge African animal starts with an "R." This animal has a single "horn" on its nose. What is its name? Answer: Rhinoceros
3. This African animal starts with an "L." It is a cat that has dark spots on its fur. What is its name? Answer: Leopard
4. This large African cat starts with an "L." The male has a large mane of hair on its neck. What is its name? Answer: Lion
5. This large cat starts with a "T." It is a cat that has dark stripes on its fur. What is its name? Answer: Tiger
6. This long-legged bird starts with an "F." It is pink and has a very long neck. What is its name? Answer: Flamingo
7. This tall animal starts with a "G." It has a very long neck and lives in Africa. What is its name? Answer: Giraffe
8. This big mammal starts with an "H." It is has a huge mouth and spends most of the day lying in water. It lives in Africa. What is its name? Answer: Hippopotamus
9. This fast-running mammal starts with a "Z." It has black and white stripes and lives in Africa. What is its name? Answer: Zebra
10. This lizard starts with an "I." It is green and lives in rain forests. What is its name? Answer: Iguana
11. This zoo animal starts with a "K." It hops and the female has a pouch where the babies live. What is its name? Answer: Kangaroo
