(pronounced AWL-shah-SAWR-us) Alxasaurus (meaning "Alxa [Desert of Inner Mongolia] lizard") was a meat-eating dinosaur that lived during the Cretaceous period, about 99 million years ago. No one knows what color the dinosaurs were.

Anatomy: This theropod dinosaur was about 13 ft (4 m) long and weighed about 800-900 pounds (350 to 400 kg). A saurischian dinosaur, Alxasaurus had a toothless beak, long legs, an s-shaped neck, and a stiff, pointed tail.

Fossils: Alxasaurus was named by paleontologists D. A. Russell and Dong in 1995. The type species is A. elesitaiensis. Fossils have been found in Mongolia.
