This hound was bred for racing in Great Britain in the 1800's. It was probably bred from the Italian greyhound and terriers. The Whippet is also a good rat catcher.
Anatomy: The Whippet is about 17 to 20 inches (43-51 cm) tall at the shoulders, and weighs about 28 pounds (13 kg). This lean, long-legged dog has compact feet, a long muzzle, wing-like ears, and large, oval eyes.
