Mississippi 1894 flag

Mississippi had adopted a new state flag in 1894, replacing the older Magnolia Flag (which had been adopted in 1861, after Mississippi seceded from the union). This flag, which is no longer the official state flag, has a small Confederate Battle Flag in the upper left corner (it is also called the "union square"). There are thirteen white stars on a St. Andrew's Cross, and horizontal blue, white and red stripes.

Mississippi was the 20th state in the USA; it was admitted in 1817.
