Complete the Picture

This is an art activity in which the student practices drawing using prompts from separated sections of a picture from a magazine.

Supplies:

White paper (thicker paper, like card stock, works best)
Pictures cut from magazines
Scissors
Glue
Crayons, colored pencils or markers

Find and cut out a picture from a magazine (it should be about the size of a piece of paper). Animals, nature scenes, cars, buildings, and works of art work well.
Cut a piece of white paper to exactly the same size as the magazine picture you cut out.

Cut the magazine picture into strips.
Glue half the strips onto the white paper, positioning every other piece where it would be if the picture were intact.
Have the student complete the picture, using crayons, markers, or colored pencils to draw inside the blank areas. They have to use logic and their imagination in order to fill in these regions.
