John Constable (June 11, 1776 - March 31, 1837) was an English artist.
Made with oil paint on canvas, Harwich Lighthouse was one of three paintings Constable made of this scenic view. Showing an idyllic day and a stroll towards the lighthouse, it’s the brimming sea and the wide expanse of sky and cloud that captures the viewer’s attention. In all of this, it is a classic representation of his landscape creations. It was first shown to the public in 1820 and was painted on a small canvas.
