The Minke whale is a baleen whale found almost worldwide. It is the smallest rorqual whale (the large baleen whales). It is the only baleen whale that is still hunted commercially. The Minke is a realtively fast swimmer.

Anatomy: Minke whales grow to be about 25-30 feet (7.8-9 m) long, weighing about 6-7.5 tons (5.4-6.8 tonnes). The females are slightly larger than the males, as with all baleen whales. Calves weigh about 770 pounds (350 kg) at birth.

Diet: Minke whales are carnivores that filter feed plankton (tiny crustaceans like krill, copepods, pteropods, etc.) and small fish from the water.
