Make a beautiful flower card using tissue paper. This is a great Mother’s Day, Spring, get-well-soon, or birthday card.
- Colorful of tissue paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick or white glue
- Markers or crayons
- White cardstock paper (or construction paper) for the card base.
Instructions
Cutting the petals: For each flower, you’ll need about 6-8 teardrop-shaped petals that are 3-4 inches long. Fold a piece of colorful tissue paper in half three times. Cut out a teardrop shape about 3-4 inches long (cut through the 6 layers of tissue paper). To make it easy, you can use our teardrop shape petal template.
If you’re going to make a lot of flowers, fold a piece of colorful tissue paper in half many times, until it is about the size of an adult’s hand. Then cut out the teardrop shapes from the folded paper, and you’ll get dozens of petals with just a few snips.
Forming the petals: For each petal, hold the rounded end in one hand. With your other hand, gently crush the pointy end and repeatedly twirl it (until it forms a tiny stem). It helps if you moisten your hand a tiny bit. Do this to all the petals.
Form a card base: Fold a piece of white cardstock (or colored construction paper) in half.
Design and glue your card: Decide where you want your flower to be by laying out the petals on the card.
When the design is to your liking, remove them. Using a glue stick, apply a circle of glue where the petals will be. Then put the petals back on the card and gently push them onto the paper.
Draw a stem for your flower. Add a couple of green tissue paper leaves if you like, and the flower is complete.
Let the glue dry, then write a message on your beautiful flower card!
