This scary black cat hat (or Halloween decoration) is easily made from construction paper.
- 2 pieces of black construction paper (one large, one regular size) [If you only have regular-size paper, you can use these black cats as decorations, but they will be too small to wear. You can also use brown paper bags to make the hat, and color them using black tempera paint.]
- Small scraps of yellow, pink, white, and/or orange construction paper (for the cat's eyes, nose, whiskers, and mouth)
- A pencil or white crayon
- Scissors
- Black crayon or marker
- Stapler
- Glue
Instructions
Draw and cut out a half-circle from a large piece of construction paper. Cut four legs from the scraps.
Draw and cut out a cat’s head and a circle about the same size (this will be the cat’s tail).
Cut out yellow eyes, some white whiskers, a pink nose and mouth, and ear insides. Glue the pieces onto the cat’s face.
Using the black crayon or marker, give the cat vertical pupils.
Draw a spiral inside the circle. Cut along the line. This will be the cat’s tail.
Twirl the half-circle into a cone-shaped hat. Staple along the seams.
Glue two of the cat’s legs onto the bottom back of the hat.
Glue the tail to the back of the hat, between and above the legs.
Glue the head to the front of the hat. Glue two of the cat’s legs onto the bottom front of the hat. Make sure that the legs don’t block your eyes when you wear the hat.
Now you can wear your scary black cat hat for Halloween!
