These metal cut-outs are like traditional Mexican tin cut-outs. You can make these shiny ornaments from disposable aluminum pie plates or roasting pans. They make great decorations for Christmas, Cinco de Mayo, and other holidays.
Supplies Needed:
- A disposable pie plate or roasting pan (cleaned)
- A marker
- Scissors
- A large nail
- String or yarn
- Scrap cardboard or newspaper
Instructions
1.
Draw a simple design on the disposable aluminum pie plate. For a star template, click here. For a crescent moon template, click here.
2.
Cut out the design.
3.
Work on scrap cardboard or a thick pile of newspaper (to protect your work surface). Using a large nail (or a hole punch), make a hole towards the top of the design (this is where you will hang the ornament).
4.
Using a nail, make indentations to decorate the cut-out.
5.
Attach a string to the hole near the top.
You now have great aluminum decorations for any occasion!
