(This is a story that I wrote 2 years ago. When I wrote It, I thought that compsognathus was a raptor. please ignore this mistake.)
THE ISLAND THAT TIME ALMOST FORGOT (BUT NOT QUITE)
"It is Monday and the jungle is harsh," I write in my journal. Charlie, a man that I do not trust, is preparing his sleeping bag. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a huge pie under his pillow. An hour or two later, I come to check on him. After I open the tent flap, the next thing I see is the red filling of a cherry pie. I lick pie from my face, then, "What did you do that for?!!" I shout angrily. "I didn't know! I thought you were a dinosaur!" he protests. The argument turns into a constant drone. I say, "blah, blah, blah!" He says, "No! blah, blah, blah!" Finally, we fall down on the sleeping bag, gasping for air.
"Wait here," I say.
"Why?"
"I have something to show you...."
SPLAT!!
Meanwhile, in a cave, a long lost friend of
Charlie's is trying to sleep. But in the other room, a
Utahraptor wearing shades is dancing under a green stage
light while listening to disco music. "Oooh, that stupid
raptor! I never should have taken him in!" [Oh well,]he
thinks, [He's been loyal and everything, but listening to
disco music at 3:00 in the morning?] Besides the
sunglasses, the raptor was also wearing a silver tuxedo but
without the shirt. Suddenly, a small compsagnathus
comes into the room. "What is it?"says Idean,[I`ve seen a
group of explorers.]says the small raptor. Oh! I forgot to
tell you! Idean`s dinosaurs can communicate telipathically.
"Did they have Charlie with them?"asks Idean, [wee wee]
says the compsagnathus. Wait a
minute! I forgot to tell you why me and Charlie were alone
on a
remote island!
It all started when me and Charlie each received a letter from a small company which was from the boss of the entire company who wanted to see us. When he came, he told us that he had hired us because he had found a new island and he needed to know if there was any undiscovered wildlife on the island. Fortunately, there was a cruise ship that was going to pass by, so we decided to take it. The company paid for the luxury cruise so even though this was a serious mission, we got to use the swimming pool. We went off of the cruise ship in jet skis, followed by bigger boats carrying the supplies. We could see the island ahead, so we had to crash our jetskis into the land because we didn't know how to stop them. The men in the boats unloaded trucks carrying the supplies that we needed plus, a small crate of weapons in case we needed them.
We found out in our first week that there wern't just regular animals on that island. First, we heard shrieks and we thought that they were from birds of prey but then we saw huge lizard-like creatures with beaks carrying fish in their claws. I suddenly recognized them from the day that my mom had bought one for me at the toy store but then taken it back because the wings were too sharp-pteranodon. We thought that we were crazy! but it was 10: pm so we went back to bed.
The next time we knew that it wasn`t a dream. It was pure daylight when it happened, I heard screeching and scuffling noises in the kitchen of my motor home, being curious as to the nature of the disturbance, I proceeded to arm myself wih a baseball bat and some pepper spray ,which I always keep on my person to soothe my eyes and also as a mouthwash, and then headed directly for the kitchen. I cautiously tiptoed through the hall, making sure not to make any noise, and when I cautiously opened the door, I saw the strangest thing! A dinosaur, who I suddenly recognized as Oviraptor , was getting himself a beer and a couple of deviled eggs out of my refrigerator. I was surprised, but since I knew what the dinosaur ate, I calmed down and decided to join him. Just as I was about to get myself Pepsi out of the refrigerator, the Oviraptor squawked very loudly. Then he ran away, gulping the beer rapidly. I felt sorry for the creature, because the cook had accidentally put! too much pepper on that batch of eggs.
Now I've given you a couple of stories to fill you in on the facts, so how about we just get back to the present, if it's o.k. with you?
Thank you.
Little does Idean know that someone was listening to him.
It was a small Troodon with red eyes. [My master,
Andy will be pleased] he thinks to himself as he runs back
to the cave hideout. As soon as the troodon gets back, he
comes to the throne room. Upon a big stone throne,
outlined with jewels, sits the small but muscular form of
King Andy. Long ago, he had been shipwrecked on the island
with Idean, who had been sailing on the same ship.
But they had broken up with each other, and Andy had almost
killed Idean by trying to force him to eat their last
supply of broccoli and green beans. "What have you
found?" says King Andy in his booming voice. [I have good
news, sir. The intruders have fallen directly into our
trap. ] But then, he quickly adds, [by the way, what was
our trap?]. "You idiot!" snarls King Andy. "We were
supposed to hire the professor to give Idean's friends jobs
because they needed money and have them go to the island so
that I will have the pleasure of killing them all at the
same time." [Nice idea, Boss, really, but I'm kind of
allergic to human blood.] "Guards, take this moron away!"
says King Andy. "And bring my Gigonatosaurus Sparky, to
me! If they are as far away as he said, I might as well
ride."
It is night and we are getting ready to go to bed again. Little do we know that King Andy, (and if you've been paying attention to our story, you know that we haven't even met him yet) is planning a surprise attack on us at midnight. The untrustworthy Charlie, who had "accidentally" hit me in the face with a cherry pie the other night, is looking kind of sad that his friend Idean isn't with him on this expedition. He takes out a picture of his friend and sighs. "If only he hadn't gone on that boat ride with Andy. Then none of it would have happened--he wouldn't have gotten lost. Oh, I wish that he were here." He would have gotten to see some of the things that we have." Suddenly, for a brief instant, he thinks that Sean would have liked to see all of the prehistoric bugs. But, since Sean isn't even in this story, he quickly forgets about it. He puts down the photograph and sighs again. Then he takes off his coat and Australian hat and climbs into his sleeping bag a! nd falls to sleep.
Down deep into the forest, the roar of Sparky the gigonatosaurus can be heard. Even Tyrannosaurus, one of the most powerful dinosaurs, runs yipping like a little tiny Chihuahua hearing a Great Dane barking. "Shut up, you stupid dinosaur" whispers King Andy, trying not to make any noise. Behind Sparky, armored Troodon, dragging catapults with pies for ammunition, wait for King Andy's signal.
Just before they are about to fire, roaring can be heard. (Actually, one big roar, one smaller roar, and one tiny roar with a little hint of squawking.) To the Troodons' surprise, a Compsagnathus, standing on the head of a Velociraptor, standing on the head of a Utahraptor, attacks them. The Troodon flee, as the unfortunate and slower ones are grabbed by their tails and thrown high into the sky. Some of them are chased by a compsagnathus, snapping at their heels like a little dog. Even though he is strong, Sparky the gigonatosaurus retreats too, with King Andy clutching to his neck so he won't come flying off.
Suddenly, we wake up to find pies flying from uncommanded catapults over our trailers. Then, to our surprise, we find Idean wearing tattered clothes and a wild, uncombed hairdo, running toward us followed by a compsagnathus clutching to the back of a velociraptor running at top speed. Behind that, we see a utahraptor running at top speed. Charlie looks surprised and happy--both at the same time-like a little kid running down from his room to get the toys that Santa had brought. "Idean!" he yells happily. Idean comes to a sudden stop, making dust fly for a minute or two. "Good to see you, too, Charlie!" says Idean. "I thought that you were dead," says Charlie, in amazement. "Well, as you can see, I'm not." says Idean (sort of sarcastically). "Well, I hate to break up this happy reunion, but where did you get those friends of yours?" I say to Idean. "Well, I met them when I was escaping from Andy." says Idean. "It looks like they've been useful, too." ! I say to Idean. "By the way, who the heck is Andy?" I say. "What, you didn't see what happened?" says Idean. "Andy and his army tried to attack you with catapults but me and my friends made them run like Frankenstein was after `em." "Oh, so that explains all of those pies flying around." Charlie and I say at the same time.
Suddenly, an armored troodon, who has been flying through the air for a very long time, lands on my tent, breaking the wire and landing softly on my sleeping bag. We all look at him in amazement but all he says is [ooooh, look at all of those pretty stars]. Me and Charlie think the same thing. We start to pick him up to throw him away but before we get a chance to do that, he shakes his head for a second to clear it of all of the stars and says [you know, what? I'm getting tired of being with Andy. Is it allright if I stick with you guys?] he says in a New York accent, or at least, what you would call a New York accent in telepathy. "Well." We all say together (some in thought-speak and some in real sound). [Please, please, please] he whines in thoughtspeak. "Oh well, allright." Most of us say.
Meanwhile, "Get out of my sight you idiots!" roars king Andy. "I can`t believe that scientists still think that your species is smart!" One of the Troodon warriors sighs [Oh, I wish that he would just shut up] he thinks. They had tried to get rid of him once but he was too strong for them.
Meanwhile, we are planning on storming King Andy's castle and we are getting everything ready. Unfortunately, it is'nt the best plan. First, we have to dent the troodon's helmet and then break the troodon's spear in a way that the top half was still dangling from the bottom half. Then we have to dent the rest of his armour. At first, he would have to crawl into the castle and they would open the door. Then, while the door was open, we would come into the castle and attack. The problem is, we have no idea what the rest of the plan is going to be. "Are you sure that this is the best plan there is?" asks Charlie. "I'm not sure, but we have to try." says Idean.
All goes according to the plan (or at least the first part). The troodon crawls in with dented armour and a broken spear, saying that he'd escaped from the intruders. Then they open the door and while the troodon crawls in, we jump in and attack. The raptors wearing black belts,(pretending that the belts are third degree,) are kicking and slashing at the troodon. Fortunately for the troodon guards, they haven't taken their armour off but unfortunately their armour is only as strong as a car door, which the raptors work out with and like to break to keep in shape. The troodon mostly get scratches and scrapes but their tails get big bruises. The raptors keep kicking through the troodon, aiming for the jeweled throne of King Andy. But King Andy sees what they're doing and runs for Sparky (who, if you forgot, is a gigonatosaurus who can kick a T-rex's tail). The troodon that we helped is also taking off the dented parts of his armour and helping the raptors kick throu! gh the troodon guards.
King Andy gets to the door of the room where he keeps Sparky, just before the Utahraptor breaks down the door to the hallway that he was running through. King Andy tries to break down the door because it was locked and he can't open it because he has lost the key while he was running away from the battle. Unfortunately, King Andy is able to break down the door and escapes on Sparky before the Utahraptor can get to him. He hops on Sparky and gets chased into the ocean, where a plesiasaur scares away the gigonotosaurus and King Andy is forced to swim for his life all the way to the neighboring island.
We bring Idean and the three raptors and get on the cruise ship with our equipment and other things and we get the same rooms we had when we started. Soon after that, me, Charlie, Idean, and two of the raptors are lying on floats in the swimming pool, while the Utahraptor is listening to disco music (in the room where one of the passengers got scared away and decided that they wanted to stay in Honolulu for a few extra weeks).
"Phew,
no more dinosaurs!" I exclaim. Then I say, "Well, almost."
Suddenly, I hear a rustling in my backpack and find a weird
looking egg. Suddenly, the egg pops open, and a little
raptor chick comes out. [Mama!] he says. "AAAAAAAHHHH!"
