TOM: The oldest known dinosaurs include unnamed prosauropod dinosaurs from Madagascar, the primitive bird-hipped dinosaur Pisanosaurus from Argentina, the primitive meat-eating dinosaurs Eoraptor and Herrerasaurus (also from Argentina), the prosauropod Saturnalia from Brazil, and the primitive meat-eating dinosaur Staurikosaurus (also from Brazil). These dinosaurs are from the very beginning of the Late Triassic (the Madagascar prosauropods might even be from the Middle Triassic). Of these creatures, Eoraptor is probably the closest in form to what the ancestor of all the dinosaurs looked like.
