This photograph of Comet Lovejoy C/2014 Q2 is magnified four times more than the previous image.

The distinctive blue-green color is commonly seen in comets. Light of this color is emitted by the molecule C2, composed of two carbon atoms, when it is hit by ultraviolet light from the sun.
