Venus has been visited by spacecraft over 20 times. It was visited by NASA’s Mariner 2 (in 1962), Pioneer Venus (in 1978), the Soviet Union’s Venera 7 (in 1970) and Venera 9 (in 1975, this was the first spacecraft to land on another planet).
