I've already voted in my favorite dinosaur, but I was hoping I would be allowed to post why I think T-rex is so popular. While we now know it wasn't the biggest carnivorous dinosaur, for decades it has held that title, and a newly discovered specimen might just win it back. It has a great name ("tyrant lizard king") and is one of the few dinos with a "nickname". Giganotosauruus and Carcharodontosaurus are awfully long. Also, it lived in North America, and literally once roamed our backyards (at least in the case of USA and CAN). More scientific reasons it SHOULD be popular are that it was more closely related to birds than the carnosaurs, was more likely to have had feathers or proto-feathers at some point in its life, and, judging by its affinities with the troodonts and the ostrich dinos, was probably much faster and smarter than the more primitive carnosaurs. Also, I'll admit, it's better known, but if someone wants to try and change that they should write a book featuring another dinosaur. (As was the case of Velociraptor.) Being old school, though, I'm glad to see the classics haven't died.

I started to liked dinosaurs when I was 3. Since then, I my knowledge of dinosaurs grew. I heard and read about many dinosaurs. And my favourite dinosaur is T-Rex! Although some bigger dino predator have been found, none is more specialised to be a bone crunching killing machine like T-Rex. T-Rex evolved from a long line of successful dino predators. T-Rex. Tyrant Ruler. The name tells you all about T-Rex.

Some of my friends and I like to pretend that were dinosaurs. The dinosaur I like to pretend to be is veloceraptor. They're quick, and clever. The name "speedy plunderer" cirtinly fits a veloceraptor. Another thing I like about then is that they are good at catching pray and have sharp claws on their feet which are really cool. I like a lot of other dinosaurs but my most favorite is veloceraptor.

My favourite Dinosaur is a Viloceraptor.It has always been my favourite because it is an intelegent carnivore.It's sicle like claw also makes it different from all the other rapters and other carnivores.Unlike the T.rex, the viloloceraptor can and will use it's frount claw to grasp it's prey.It might jump on it's prey and kill it with it's claw.

First of all, i absolutly love all genera of dinosaur, especially the theropods. But if i had to pick a favorite species i must vouch for Utahraptor. I read Bakker's book Raptor Red and it absolutly fascinated me. For all of you who think Velociraptor when Jurassic Park is mentioned, here is some trivia for you. Those raptors were actually Utahraptors. Velociraptors are actually smaller, however that dosen't degrade them in any way. If you don't believe me, read the intro to Raptor Red, its all there. The shear power of these animals is amazing! Long grasping forearms, thick muscular legs, and a head that focuses all of its senses in one direction are just some of the characteristics that make a Utahraptor one wicked animal.(also worth noting-- Megaraptors are not dromaesaurids, the info to back up my claim is on this site)

For all of you T-Rex lovers, i'm here to write your paragraphs. While T-Rex is not my favorite dinosaur, i can attest to why all of you love this animal so much. The very mention of T-Rex implies power. This animal was built to take down the large herbivors of its time. The bite pressure of T-Rex was extraordinary! Crocs today exert 3000 lbs of pressure per square inch. Now imagine a Rex's bite pressure, who has a jaw larger and much more powerful than a crocs. The teeth capitalize on this ability. They are not extremely sharp, but they are serated and strong. A Rex does not slash flesh with his teeth, he crushes it. When he bites, the teeth and pressure combination breaks bones and severs muscles and tendons deep within the victim. Imagine the power it takes to crack the spine of a Triceratops, thats what T-Rex does. Power does not only exist in the jaws, but in the whole animal. Even the small arms are strong. Each arm(which are about! as long as one of ours) was estimated to lift 400lbs. Few of us can bench 400lbs with one arm. The legs of T-Rex were built like a locomotive. The femurs were extremely thick and had huge muscles attached. Rex could probably reach a speed of 30 miles per hour, more than enough to catch the large herbivors of its day if it had to. This whole animal was a power house. To find out more info, including what i have mentioned here, read "The Complete T-Rex" by John Horner, and depending on your age read "The Dinosaur Hereises" by Robert Bakker. Then you to can defend why you love T-Rex so much and amaze your opponents at the sametime.

T-Rex has a very good reason to be my favourite dinosaur of any kind. It had a massive and powerful jaw with teeth size of bananas that was designed to slice into flesh and crush bones, its victim would have died fairly quickly out of shock and blood loss. T-Rex had a moderately sized brain for a dinosaur of that size, and had quite long legs so it might not have been a good sprinter but was able to chase its prey for a long time. And who knows if T-Rex hunted in pairs or even packs although hunting alone would have been enough to terrorize most dinosaurs of that time. It also had a keen sense of smell, so if you ever did see a T-Rex it would not be a good idea to stand still. If you have any dinosaur that has all these qualities, I would be glad to know.

My favorite is Megaraptor. It dosen't live in Canada, like some other dromeosaurids, but if it's pack was large enough,(for all those people who LOVE Rexy so much), it could of taken on Rex OR Giganotosaurus. my favourite dinosaur is diplodocus because it is the longest dinosaur to ever live on earth. And because it is a big dinosaur too. At school we have been learning about dinosaurs. At school I made a poem about diplodocus. It goes like this: I am diplodocus, gigantic and slow I like to eat plants wherever I go. I go underneath him and very slow. Hey, I say him in the park, he was eating leaves and very slow. Diplodocus was a herbivore, that means that it eats plants. T-Rex was not one of them. He was a carnivore, that means that he or she eats other dinosaurs. Diplodocus had the brain the size of a pea. Diplodocus was a nice dinosaur because it did not attack any other dinosaur that lived on earth. We listened to a story about diplodocus and there was a song that I made up. It goes like this: Diplodocus, Diplodocus where are you You can reach the tree-tops and I can't see you. Please come down, I love you so much. If you don't come down right now I wont like you very much. Diplodocus laid eggs like a lot of other dinosaurs.

I really don't like what has happened. There has been less and less talk about what dinosaurs we love, and more and more talk about how the Tyrannosaurus does not deserve to be the most popular dinosaur. Tyrannosaurus is not my favourite, but I'm pretty sure he was capable of doing some serious damage to another dinosaur. Tyrannosaurus was one of the largest carnivores ever, after Giganotosaurus of course, and if people continue to vote for it, that's okay with me.
