This image shows Mars shortly after its occultation by the Moon; this means that the Moon was exactly between the Earth and Mars. The Moon blocked our view of Mars for over an hour. Unfortunately the Moon and Mars rose just a bit too late for us to see the occultation here, but we did get a good view of the two celestial bodies in conjunction (close to each other in the sky) afterwards. The red dot above and to the right of the Moon is Mars.
