Dancers at the Barre, by the French impressionist Edgar Degas (July 19, 1834-Sept. 27, 1917), was drawn in pastels. It was started in the 1880s but wasn’t finished until 1900! This work of art shows two ballerinas practicing backstage, getting ready for a dance. Degas frequently drew ballerinas, spending much time observing their movements and dances at the Opéra de Paris.
