Three Dancers in Purple Skirts was drawn in pastel by Edgar Degas from 1895 to 1898. He frequently drew ballerinas, spending much time observing their movements and dances at the Opéra de Paris. This work shows three ballerinas mid-performance, arms outstretched and dancing away!
