Literacy Rate: About 78.8% (over three-quarters) of the adults in Saudi Arabia can read and write. About 84.7% of the men and 70.8% of the women are literate.
Official Religion: All of the people of Saudi Arabia are Muslims.
Saudi Arabia's flag was adopted on March 15, 1973. The flag's design was based on the flag that represented the army of Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud, the first King of Saudi Arabia.

Terrain: Saudi Arabia is mostly an uninhabited, sandy desert.
Highest Point: The highest point in Saudi Arabia is Jabal Sawda' at 3,133 m, located in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the Red Sea.

Natural Resources: Petroleum, natural gas, iron ore, gold, copper.

Saudi Arabia's Flag: The flag of Saudi Arabia has a green field with large white Arabic writing above a white horizontal sword (the tip of the sword points to the hoist side of the flag). The Arabic writing is the Islamic statement of faith, "There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his Prophet." Green is the traditional color of Islam.
Climate: Saudi Arabia's climate is harsh, a dry desert with great temperature extremes.
