Print out the following pages to make the early reader book "The Emperor's New Clothes," for fluent readers.

There are two book pages on each printed page. Have the students cut each page in half along the dotted line. Staple the pages together at the left of the page, then read the book, fill in the word, and write the phrases.

Cover Page, The Beginning

Cover page. The emperor loves clothes and is approached by con men who say they will make him a beautiful, magical suit that can only be seen by wise people.


The Middle

The scoundrels are paid and pretend to make the Emperor a magical suit that is invisible to fools.


The end

Afraid of beging thought of as a fool, everyone goes along with the scoundrels, saying they see the magical suit. The Emperor parades around in his underwear, thinking he is wearing a magical suit. Only a child tells the truth. Moral of the Story: Think for yourself. Don't be scared or pressured into accepting things you know aren't right.
