Hey guess what !!!!!!!! the t-rex couldn't destroy anything that came it's way!!! the torosaurus's HEAD was 8 1/2 feet long that means that when he lowers his head to scare away preadators he is TALLER than the t-rex who is up to 9 feet high I dont think the big T would want to attack an animal whos HEAD is almost as big as he is.

Good morning... (ahem) Good Morning gentlemen...

(Dramatic and touching war music)

In less then an hour, Tyrannosaurus fans here in America and and all over the world will be launching votes here. It will be the biggest verbal battle in the history of Tyrannosaurus.

Tyrannosaurus huh? Word shoudl have a new meaning for all of us today, we cannot be divided by our petty differences anymore. Prehaps it's fate once again that today will mark the beginning of a great struggle for freedom. But this time, we will not be fighting against tyranny, persecution or oppression. But from annihilation,we're fighting for our very right to live.

An hour from now, we will confront an old adversary, an army more powerful then any Tyrannosaurus has ever faced. And if we win the day, today will know as the day, where Tyrannosaurus fans stood shoulder to shoulder, and declared in one voice, WE WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT! WE WILL NOT VANISH WITHOUT A FIGHT! WE WILL NOT LAY DOWN AND DIE! WE WILL LIVE ON, WE WILL SURVIVE!...TODAY...WE CELEBRATE OUR TYRANNOSAURUS DAY!!!

(A tremendour roar of approval swelled through the crowd. Deeply moved by his words, the men and women surrounding him forgot their fear and pumped their fists into the air and cheered, ready to fight. They would have followed their leader anywhere.)

Remember, put your vote in for Tyrannosaurus, this is one.

And if we

I've noticed alot of people are saying that raptors like Deionchyus could run very fast and far, let me show you the scientific truth behind this matter:

The raptors have one of the shortest tibiae and metatarsals of any land based predatory dinosaur, which is the direct opposite of what you would expect in a fast runner. The raptors were probally actually surprisingly slow for their size, prehaps slightly faster than humans. If we do compairative anatomy, we would realize all fast runners have long and slender tibulae and metatarsals. Not to mention equipment to grip the ground. If we look at the raptors, we would realize they had very little muscle at the end of the leg. Instead, the entire leg was worked from the top by tendons. Also, the two toes of the raptors that are in contact with the ground are not really cut out for gripping the ground. If we look at the raptors, we would realize that they were hardly built for speed, but for agaility. Ceratinly though, I suspect a raptor could outrun a human being anyday.

If we look at the leg of a Tyrannosaurus, we would realize it actually has the longest and most slender tibiae and metatarsals of any land based predatory dinosaur. We would also notice that the Tyrannosaur leg had a lot of muscle attatchments and shock absorbing cartillage to protect the leg from tremedus shock sustained while running. If we look at the foot of a Tyrannosaur, we would notice that it is well splayed out to spread its weight and also to delocalise the shock of running. Even better, the toe claws of a Tyrannosaur are well curved and could have gripped the ground while running. All in all, we would actually expect Tyrannosaurus to be one of the fastest land based predators in all of dinosauria.

T.rex could eat any Deinonychus anytime. Really boy boy, you should go and insult other dinosaurs in your league.
from Ursa, age ?, ?, ?, ?; May 15, 2001

A pack of five Deinonychus jumped from the ancient rock in a ritual test of strength and dominance. Lunging forward, they breathed heavily as the crumbling rocks echoed below them. A large ferocious T-Rex came out of nowhere and attacked one of the Deinonychus, forcing it down with its weight and deadly jaws. Two of the younger retreated Deinonychus to safety.Even the mighty pack of Deinonychus are no match for the monsterous T-Rex. The battle was won and the " Tyrant Prince" forced the pack of Raptors back to their fossilized grave.

I started to liked dinosaurs when I was 3. Since then, I my knowledge of dinosaurs grew. I heard and read about many dinosaurs. And my favourite dinosaur is T-Rex! Although some bigger dino predator have been found, none is more specialised to be a bone crunching killing machine like T-Rex. T-Rex evolved from a long line of successful dino predators. T-Rex. Tyrant Ruler. The name tells you all about T-Rex

For all of you T-Rex lovers, i'm a ex-raptor fan here to write your paragraphs. While T-Rex is not my favorite dinosaur, i can attest to why all of you love this animal so much. The very mention of T-Rex implies power. This animal was built to take down the large herbivors of its time. The bite pressure of T-Rex was extraordinary! Crocs today exert 3000 lbs of pressure per square inch. Now imagine a Rex's bite pressure, who has a jaw larger and much more powerful than a crocs. The teeth capitalize on this ability. They are not extremely sharp, but they are serated and strong. A Rex does not slash flesh with his teeth, he crushes it. When he bites, the teeth and pressure combination breaks bones and severs muscles and tendons deep within the victim. Imagine the power it takes to crack the spine of a Triceratops, thats what T-Rex does. Power does not only exist in the jaws, but in the whole animal. Even the small arms are strong. Each arm(which are ab! out as long as one of ours) was estimated to lift 400lbs. Few of us can bench 400lbs with one arm. The legs of T-Rex were built like a locomotive. The femurs were extremely thick and had huge muscles attached. Rex could probably reach a speed of 30 miles per hour, more than enough to catch the large herbivors of its day if it had to. This whole animal was a power house. To find out more info, including what i have mentioned here, read "The Complete T-Rex" by John Horner, and depending on your age read "The Dinosaur Hereises" by Robert Bakker. Then you to can defend why you love T-Rex so much and amaze your opponents at the sametime

Now we know why everybody thinks the raptors stink!

So, some people think that T.Rex is a scavenger...

This is a theory put forward by Jack Horner. This man being a palaeontologist who thrives on controversy. Don't get me wrong, some of his more off the wall ideas have been right on the money. However this is one of the ones which don't hold up to scrutiny.

There are only a few creatures which can currently live entirely as scavengers. The most well known of these being vultures, crows and other birds.

The main problem with living entirely on a diet of dead meat is finding it without expending more energy than one gains from eating it. This is fine if one can soar on thermals all day using relatively little energy and spot a dead or dying animal from several miles away - which vultures can.

With land animals this becomes very difficult as one has to have an incredible sense of smell to locate those few animals which die through natural attrition.

Certainly if a T. rex comes across a dead bront - Apatasaurus it would merrily scare away any other predators and chow down - all modenr carnivores do this when the opportunity arises - it's got to be more energy efficient to scoff something already dead than running after it first!. However it wouldn't grow to be so big and toothy living on the occasional bit of carrion that comes it's way.

Unless, of course, it was a cold blooded creature - but that would be contrary to Bakkers main contention that dinosaurs were warm blooded (which I agree with). But you can't have it both ways. Bakker shows in other of his own works that the T. rex predator/prey ratios were what one would have expected from a warm blooded predator. The ratios for a scavenger would differ from this.

The other problem is that of the T. rex weak and feeble arms. Some studies have shown that these arms were in fact incredibly powerful (although definately short) which implies they had a definate purpose. Exactly what that purpose was is unclear - but it isn't necessary for the animal to have used it's two fingered claws in catching prey - its array of sharp teeth set in powerful jaws would be perfectly adequate. After all, no one would suggest that Eagles or Owls must be scavengers because they have no arms at all.

This's for T.Rex

Tyrannosaurus rex: the Tyrant Lizard King. The largest and most powerful predator of all time! Well the facts are in (for now ). Dr. Keith Rigby of the Univesity of Notre Dame has found a Tyrannosaurus Rex so big and so massive it puts all those Giganotosaurus arguements to rest. Being as much as 15 to20 percent larger, they dubbed the new "emperor'', Tyrannosaurus imperator. This is an animal that grew to lengths of possibly 60 feet or more. Concidering Dr. Rigby's data, you might say that at three feet in length, my 1/15th REX could be added as a 1/20th Tyrannosaurus imperator. This dinosaur may be true ruler of all pedators and the rest of the dinosaur kingdom. As in the cretacious, my Tyrannosaurus likes a diet of Deinonychus, Utahraptor and Velociraptor.

A long time ago

Slamming down with the force of a pickup truck with its jaws, the Tyrannosaurus picks up a Deinonychus hatching and bites cleanly into it, jerking its head up as it went. The Deinonychus hatching's frightened squeak is cut short as the bite severs its head and sends it flying out of the predator's jaws, the lifeless eyes wide open in terror, the minuature Deinonychus mouth agape. The head hit the ground, bounced once before rolling lopsidedly due to its oval profile.

One adult Deinonychus, enraged by the death of it's offspring, charges the predator. The Tyrannosaurus roars when it see the threat and spins around to face it, impossibly fast. In the process, it kicks the remainding three Deinonychus hatchings with the back of its foot with incredible force. The Deinonychus hatchings scream as they roll head over heels away limply before coming to a rest about twenty feet away. They are not moving. This year's brood is doomed.

Now all that remained of the pathetic pack is the two females and the old male Deinonychus. As one of the female Deinonychus charges the Tyrannosaur, another Tyrannosaurus, a slightly smaller one, bursts out cover and barrels straight at the charging Deinonychus. This is the mate of the first Tyrannosaur.

Confused and terrified by the apperance of another predator, the Deinonychus sherks in alarm and aborts the attack, trying to retreat. It is too late though. The smaller Tyrannosaur catches up with the retreating Deinonychus and bites into the neck. In a sickening crunch of bones, the Deinonychus went down like a puppet with its strings cut without even having a chance to lash out with its claws.

That left two of the original herd. Two Tyrannosaurus now converge on the female and tears twenty-kilogram slabs of meat from her flanks, literally tearing the Deinonychus apart. Half-running half-limping away as she tries to return the damage with her sickle claws, the Deinonychus. But the scope of protection given by the sickle claws are too small, and her body too big a target. One of the Tyrannosaurus must have hit something critical, for a gyeser of blood two meters high spurts from her flank. Rapidly weakening from the blood loss, she tips onto her side with a 'splash' in a large puddle of blood- an testimony to how much she bled.

All the harboured anger and fustration against the Tyrannosaurus erupt within the last male Deinonychus as he see his pack die around him. Sherking in rage-induced insanity, he charges the bigger Tyrannosaurus, somehow hoping that the collision will snap the birdlike leg of the predator and bring it down. Tearing up the ground with his feet, he accelerates rapidly towards the Tyrannosaurus. This was his last stand, Deinonsaur against Tyrannosaur.

But the Tyrannosaurus is not there when he arrived. It has skillfully dodged to the side. Swinging his head madly in an attempt to gore his attacker, he turns to face his sickle claws against the Tyrannosaurus. He was absolutely confident he could slash the Tyrannosaurus somehow-

For a split second, he felt something down his neck, something hot and moist; a predator's breath. Something slammed into his neck with incredible force and he tries to scream, but something hot and fulid flooded his beak and gurgled his scream to a weak anticlimax. He felt the clamplike grip on his neck grind down deeper as it tightened. Now he knew what happened: In his mad charge to bring down the bigger Tyrannosaurus, he had forgotten about the smaller one, and laid himself open to attack-

He tried to lift his head to see the bigger Tyrannosaur he was sure he had gored, but his horribily injured neck defied him. With its powerful muscles severed by the bite, the head was nothing more than deadweight. The jaws of the unseen Tyrannosaur tightened around his neck and to his surprise, he heard the bones of his neck crunching loudly-

His pain racked body suddenly went numb, and he tipped over forward, prostrate. In his dimming vision, he saw the ground was covered with blood...his blood. He hit the ground limply, and saw the Tyrannosaur he had tried to gore standing over him with the smaller one. The bigger Tyrannosaur had no obvious injuries on it, and if it did, it did not slow it down one bit. As his vision finally dimmed out, he knew his bid for revenge has failed.

The two Tyrannosaurs stand over the Deinonychus and start calling out into the bush. Timidly, but quickly, six Tyrannosaurus chicks scamper out of the cover of the vegation and start to feed on the carcasses of the late Deinonychus pack. There would be enough food to last them for three weeks. But after that, another Deinonychus herd will surely face death at the jaws of the Tyrannosaur.

All over the land, this scene is being repeated as the Tyrannosaurids become even more sucessful and start, slowly, but surely, clearing out the old Deinonychus designs to allow for new and better-protected carnivores. But for now, the killing of the ceratopsian will go on. The Tyrannosaurus are a sucess story, their weapons can penetrate anything short of the full suit of bony armour worn by the ankylosaurs. Their efficenty in killing is unprecedented in all of the dinosaurs. Even today, their sucess carries on as more and more people start to vote for them, this is a vote for T.Rex.

Tyrannosaurus by far : I notice that many seem to believe (particularly young children) Tyrannosaurus to have been "de-throned" from his place as the largest carnivorous dinosaur. But this is untrue...some Rex specimens are currently being excavated that will put the Giganatosaurus size arguments to rest. These rexies are huge, and based on current measurements of bones, are 10% or so larger than Giganatosaurus. This is an un-shakable vote for Tyrannosaurus...no other dinosaur has captured such imagination in me.

Seeing people actually go through the trouble of responding to such a one-sided fight between Tyrannosaurus rex and Deinonychus antirrhopus, I thought I might add in my own pound of salt's worth to this argument:

I figure it comes down to two things: surface area of the Tyrannosaurus' mouth (as opposed to the s.a. of the individual Deinonychus' mouth) and gastrointestinal fortitude.

If a Tyrannosaurus has a mouth that is, oh, say five feet long and two feet wide(I am doing the math slowly for you science boys and rounding to the nearest foot, of course), that means that the Tyrannosaurus has 10 square feet of mouth surface. I'd say that with that kind of coverage, every time the Tyrannosaurus makes contact with a small Deinonychus body or head (as opposed to grabbing a leg), he inflicts a mortal injury, if not an immediately killing blow. Meanwhile, your average chicken-in-dinosaur clothing has about, oh, say 0.5 square feet of mouth area, which means it can't even encompass one bulging Tyrannosaurus muscle in its wee yapper. So the Deinonychus are just barely breaking the skin, but the Tyrannosaurus just has to stay angry enough to take about twelve bites--okay, allow about five or six extra bites for the Deinonychus as he only gets by a leg the first time. He'll have to go back and take a second chomp once the maimed Deinonychus are down and helpless. Well, some people would argue that the Deinonychus coudl use their sickle claws, but I doubt a gash is anywhere near as deadly as a Tyrannosaur bite. Tyrannosaurus certainly packs more firepower into a bite from his jaws than a pack of six to twelve raptors.

Will the chicken-like Deinonychus take this lying down? Only if the Tyrannosaurus just grabs their legs on the first bite, allowing them to survive the first Tyrannosaur attack. But they are better off attacking a carcass that rarely fights back instead of an angry big Tyrannosaur. But everyone knows that Raptors in general (including Deinonychus) have tender stomachs and get sick at the drop of a hat. Remember the fossils of Deinonychus found around a Tendontosaurus carcass? Apparently the carcass went bad and they died from food poisioning. The Deinonychus will just get sick all over the carpet, thereby inducing all its pack buddies to begin woofing (pardon the pun) all over the carpet too. Soon the Tyrannosaurus will have Deinonychus *and* dessert..... yup, my vote is for the big T!

Deinonychus vs Tyrannosaurus Rex

Judge: Now this is a civilized debate between two dinosaurs to show who is better... since Deinonychus is the challanger to Tyrannosaurus' title, it shall go first.

Deinonychus (high squeaky voice): I am the best! I am so cool! I am so slick! I am so-

(BOOM! TYRANNOSAURUS STOMPS ON THE WHINING RAPTOR WITH INCREDIBLE FORCE AND SQUISHES HIM TO A GOOEY MESS OF RED PULP)

Tyrannosaurus Rex: ROARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Judge: ...

Audience: ...

Everybody: Ooh...

Judge: Well, since Deinonychus is unable to make a rebuttal to Tyrannosaurus' arguments, the debate automatically goes to Tyrannosaurus! Tyrannosaurus is the best dinosaur ever!

(Ps. I think the dinsaur I voted for here is blatantly obvious)
from Dun guess!, age ?, ?, ?, ?; May 15, 2001

7 Good reasons why Tyrannosaurus Rex is better then Deinonychus...

1)COOL NAME: Tyrannosaurus Rex...Tyrant Lizard King...is a name that inspires awe and wonder, but Deinonychus? Terrible claw? Sounds like a dinosaur with broken nails! Tyrannosaurus certainly has a cooler sounding name. And the kids love it!

2)AWESOME SIZE: Tyrannosaurus Rex is BIG! And we know that BIG things have a greater impact on things in life. Look at the Aliens in the Aliens movies... They are nasty and mean but all of them cannot have the effect Godzilla (who is BIG) have on the city. Want to make a difference? Choose for Tyrannosaurus Rex! Want to be lost in seclusion and have nobdy care two hoots about what you think? Then it's the raptors for you poor guy.

3)PERSONALITY: We identify with Tyrannosaurus as an individual, somebody we can know very well, we see and identify with Tyrannosaurus. But Deinonychus? Those pack hunters hunt in groups! They have no personality! They are a bunch of generic clones that nobody takes a second look at (except a few people)!!!!

4)FIREPOWER: People think that Deinonychus is really mean because of it's sickle claws, but please, compaired to the smash-mouth Tyrannosaurus that can put up to 3 TONNES of pressure with its mouth and remove 70 kilos of meat with a single bite, its like compairing a pea-shooter (Deinonychus), to a heavy machine gun (Tyrannosaurus). There is no contest! Even if there were 12 raptors, it won't work! 12 pea-shooters is no match for a heavy machine gun!

5) RELATIVE INVULNERABILITY: From the fossil record we know the just about the only think that can kill a Tyrannosaurus Rex is another Tyrannosaurus Rex! Tyrannosaurus is TOUGH! It's relativly invulnerable to just about any animal attack of its time! Duckbill stepped on a Deinonychus? It's pancake. Duckbill stepped on a Tyrannosaurus? It's duckbill trashing time! Tyrannosaurus simply won't die from many of the things the puny Deinonychus worry about everyday!!

6)INTELLIGENCE: Though many misguided people think of Deinonychus as being smart and cunning, simple mathematics proves this a myth. Deinonychus are actually one of the dullest predators (if they are at all) around in their time. The reason is simple. Lets say a pack of 6 Deinonychus is required to bring down a 2 ton herbivore, and we know from the fossil record that they will lose some Deinonychus in the struggle. That's 6 brains working together to take down an animal which Tyrannosaurus, who has 1 brain, can easily take down without trouble. Hmm...apparently, a Tyrannosaurus with 1 brain can do what 6 Deinonychus with 6 brains can barely do... conclusion: Tyrannosaurus is either very smart, about 6 times smarter than the adverage, or the Deinonychus are incredibly stupid... I believe it some of both...

7)BRAWN: Come on, not only are Deinonychus stupid (proven clearly in point 6), they are also wimps. One Tyrannosaurus Rex not only packs in more firepower than a pack of 12 Deinonychus, it also packs in more strength then a pack of 12 Deinonychus! Given such Tyrannosaurus outruns and outsmarts a pack of Deinonychus...still voting for Deinonychus?

Given these reasons, it's easy to see why Tyrannosaurus Rex is many many times better then Deinonychus antirrhopus and if you still think that Deinonychus is better, you are probally living in misinformation taken off dinosaur books printed in 1998...come on, this is 2001! Look at the number of votes as a final argument! 3,981 people can't be wrong, but its easy to imagine how 105 can be! Vote Tyrannosaurus now! Be cool! I'm voting him!

"Deinonychus vs Tryannasaurus
1. The deinonychus could run extremely fast for very long distances. The tryannasaurus couln't even move an fast as a person can walk...."

Deinonychus Prez, are you sure? Research shows Deinonychus and the raptors in general were built for short distance running and agility, not runnign extremely fast for very long distances!!! T.Rex better fits the bill, having the right muscle attatchments and leg bone proportions to do such a task!!! Anyway, thsi is a vote for T.Rex.
from Leonard, age 14, ?, ?, ?; May 15, 2001

Oh my goodness...I'm so shocked...once again in their overzealous attempts to put down T-Rex, many raptor fans hae fallen into the trap of disregarding scientific information. I noticed the "Deinonychus Prez" saying that his points are true, but I've noticed that all of his points are opinions (aka. Britney Spears can't sing!) rather than facts (aka. T.Rex grew up to about 40 feet). Therefore, the only truth in his statements are that these are his opinions, but do not be misled into taking them as facts. MOST paleontologists think that T-Rex could have easily ran faster than most of the animals of it's time, (30++ miles per hour!). MOST paleontologists believe he was a hunter! And even better, we have found evidence of healed T-Rex bite marks on other dinosa that have indicated that T-Rex made an attempt on that dino, proving through and through that T-Rex was a hunter... What good evidence do we have of Deinonychus being great hunters? Come on, if a puny Tenontosaurus (which T-Rex could have easily killed) could take down up to four Deinonychus before it went down, I think it shows that the Deinonychus were more of cupcakes, rather than fierce hunters...if you were so fierce, why did four of you die while hunting a puny Tenontosaurus? (However the most accepted theory now on that fossil find is that the Deinonychus were NOT hunting the Tenontosaurus but rather scavenging when they got killed by a larger predator or a natural disaster)

All of these points are true, vote T-Rex now!
from Bill Nye The Science Guy 2, age ?, ?, ?, ?; May 15, 2001

Man, you guys are way behind... latest studies indicate that the dromie family may not have been as deadily as it once seemed... in fact, most scientists now credit the deadilest dinosaur to the larger predators like T.Rex.

There are a few reasons (scientific ones)

1) It's unlikely the dromies would have attacked prey many times bigger then them, for there is an extreme risk of sustaining losses. One knows that losing your life in a attempt to catch prey is very bad for passing on your genes... therefore, it's highly the dromies would have went after anything too large (like a Anatotitan).

2) It has recently been reveled that ideas about the dromie dinosaurs being extremely fast (as shown in Jurassic Park where they can run up to 70mph!) is false. Closer studies of dromie legs reveal that they were not really equipped to move fast, but rather to be extremely nimble. This turns alot of our ideas around, as animals who hunt small prey generally do not go fast, but need to be extremely nimble to catch small and elusive prey.

3.) Pack hunting. Save for one species of dromie dinosaurs, there is little evidence to suggest that the dromies were big pack players. In fact, dromie footprints show that they were mainly solitary animals. Even the fossils where a Tentosaur was found near Deinonychus remains show uneven abrading and seem to suggest the tentosaurus had already been dead eariler... what killed the Deinonychus? Now scientists think it's a flash flood...

4) Though we have been repeatedly told by many "experts" that the dromies easily took down big prey left right and center with cordinated pack efforts, no fossils of big dinosaurs (like Anatotitan) have shown any good evidence of attacks by the dromies... on the flip side, the signs of attacks have been found on such potential prey have been made by larger dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus. So while soem of us think Tyrannosaurus was just a scavenger and Deinonychus a cool hunter, we actually have more evidence of Tyrannosaurus being a great hunter of big prey rather then Deinonychus!

In conclusion of all these new facts, I'd like to say that in the light of new evidence, the Deinonychus and co. do not seem as deadly as they seem....In fact, if anything, new studies indicate T.Rex was the most deadier then ever!!! I vote T.Rex!!!!!

1. The deinonychus could run extremely fast for very long distances. The tryannasaurus couln't even move an fast as a person can walk.
2. The deinonychus was the most fearsome and deadly hunter there was. The tryannasaurus wasnt a hunter at all, he was a scavanger, he searched for dead animals much the same as hyenas and vultures do today.

Deinonychus are ridiculus! Modern dinosaur artists show that they are covered in an ridiculus amount of feathers. And this is their downfall... To the people who say that Deinonychus was better than T.Rex, pluezeeeeee! When a Deinonychus pack charge towards the T.Rex, their speed causes some lift to be created by their rudemetry feathers, causing them to fly up into the air steeply, stall, and then fall back harshly back to the ground and break a leg or something. In any case, the Deinonychus pack will be in no condition to fight a T.Rex and will be swiftly finished off. Based with this knowledge, I postulate a Tyrannosaurus can fight ANY number of Deinonychus and WIN! So my vote goes to him. A quote from a book on dinosours "A plant-eating dinosaur some 20 feet long plodded through deep underbrush, making its way to a distant lake. it walked on all fours, but at times it stopped and stood up on its back legs to peer around in serch of possible danger. When it was sure that it was safe, it dropped back onto all fours again and continued on its way.

But one of the times when the animal stood up, it saw that it was no longer safe. a group of five other dinosaurs were comming toward it and they were comming very fast!

The plant eater broke into a run. If it could reach the lake in time it might be able to swim to safety. Although it ran suprisingly fast, it could not outrun the speedy beasts that were chasing it. Long before it could reach the edge of the lake they had caught up to it.

The attackers ran on two legs, with there tails streached straight out behind them. They were slim creatures, much smaller than the plant-eater. Their jaws were filled with rows of sharp teeth and they had sharp claws on their 'hands' and feet. the first toe on each foot had a big, curved, razor-sharp claw that stuck straight up.
These little dinosaurs were meat-eaters and now they attacked a these dinosaurs delivered violent kicks into the plant-eaters side and belly ripping it open" the little dinosaurs were Deinonychus' a dino that has been proved to be the most feirce creature of all SO THERE!!!!

from A Deinonychus fan, age 16, Prince George, BC, Canada; May 13, 2001

The Deinonychus is a fierce dinosaur from the Cretataceous period. I have a quote from a book on Dinosaurs "A Deinonychus was a quick-moving, dangerous animal. we think of dinosaurs such as Allosaurus and Tryannosaurus as fierce and terrible hunters, but the Dienonychus was far more fierce and terrible!" Dinosaurs (c) 1987 World Book inc Merchendice Mart Plaza Chicago illinois

Is Tiggers just don't stand a chance.

They taste good well done.

The philosophy most commonly associated with Tyrannosaurus is that of Thomas Hobbes Tyrannosaurus, whom dinosaur's name was inspired after. The human Hobbes beleived that human life was nasty, brutish and short. Humans were selfish to the point of self-destruction, and the government is established primarily to stop stupid humans from killing each other over, say, a tuna fish sandwich. He wrote a book called Leviathan because he beleived that only a government with the power of a giant sea monster was strong enough to stop stupid humans from killing each other.

T.Rexes don't even have opposable thumbs, so it's logical to think that T.Rex will have even less of a regard for his fellow dinosaurs. Mess with T.Rex in a fight, and you're brushing up against someone who wants you dead in a ditch bleeding, both as an individual wanting to beat you to the sandwich, and as a self-appointed government official stopping you from fulfilling your self-destructive urges.

Dienonychus, on the other paw, is most commonly assocaited with hippies, thanks to the Zen masters of Veloci and the Tao of Utah. These raptors are pacificts. The only violent thing they've done is set themselves on fire.

Any questions about who is meaner now? Vote for Tyrannosaurus!

'Nuff said.

Well well well! It looks like two dinosaur fans have squared off against each other. So in the impending fight between the Tyrannosaurids and the raptors, who will win?

Let's pick the meanest of the two species to do battle okay? So it will be Tyrannosaurus rex vs. Utahraptor (Megaraptor is not a true raptor)

So the Utahraptor lunges at T.rex, kicks him in the chest, breaks his leg, and bounces off. T.rex is knocked over and takes his own sweet time to get back up. But since Utahraptor is recovering from shattering every bone in his leg, he's not doing much.

T.rex whips out his jaw, and using the same amazing targeting that allowed him to bite a lawyer sitting on a toliet bowl, cleanly bites off both of the Utahraptor's legs, then the arms, and then shifts his aim and splatters Utahraptor's brains all over the street.

It's a good thing the pre-extinction late Cretacious is a toxic wasteland, or the dinosaurs would be distgusted at the sight of the remains of the Utahraptor.

Pardon me, but all the arguments here are starting to sound like Grude Match.

I'll give you one reason why Tyrannosaurus rex is better than any raptor: Survivability.

Fossils of Tyrannosaurus rex found showed that it got into regular fights with other Tyrannosaurus and got injuries like broken ribs, hips, legs and even A BROKEN NECK! In all cases, the Tyrannosaurus survived all these injuries and kept on coming! We also have evidence that Tyrannosaurus was combat-ready despite suffering a puncture wound caused by another Tyrannosaurus tooth that penetrated it's braincase!

If Tyrannosaurus could survive all these, what is a puny raptor slash by a sickle claw going to cause? How much damage do you think you can do to a 6 ton monster that can take injuries caused by jaws exerting 3 tons of pressure per square inch??? No siree, your raptor ain't gonna do much! That's why Tyrannosaurus was the most powerful dinosaur ever and I vote for him.
from Johnatan Lee, age 12, Singapore, Singapore, Singapore; May 11, 2001

Sorry american boy, but I think you are wrong about T-rex being slower and less agile than the raptors. Because scientist think T-rex was faster.

I have conclusive evidence that the Tyrannosaurs could certainly run, at least faster than the raptors though. Dromaeosaurs have just about the shortest and broadest tibiae and metatarsals of the nonavian theropods. Tyrannosaurids have the longest and most slender tibiae and metatarsals for any theropod in their sizee range. On top of that, tyrannosaurids have some nice shock-abosrbing potential in their feet. All other things being equal, a tyrannosaurid should be expected to cover more ground per unit time (aka, speed) than a dromaeosaurid of the same size. This would make tyrannosaurids among the fastestest of its time for its size, and definitely faster than its prey. This supports my original claims , that there is nothing to prove that Dromaeosaurs were seemingly better (or more efficient) hunters. So that leaves us with one conclusion...T-rex is better.
from Jackleune L., age 16, Hiakou, Hainan, China; May 11, 2001

You can take your chance on the Utahaptors, but I pity the poor fool who don't pick Mr. T. Mr. Raptor is soft from his many years of leeching off the minds of innocent children by flashing his sickle claws. Other raptors do all the work for killing the prey, and he always jumps in at the last minute and takes all the credit. Kind of like Clinton.

Mr. T. is an experienced fighter. He was once the heavyweight champ, after all. He also had a lot of experience bashing in heads with his prey dinosaur cronies. He's got the eye of the tiger back--he's certainly learned his lesson from Rocky III. The way I see it, the Utahraptors will give a clean hit to Mr. T. T turns his head to lessen the blow, and the rage builds within him. A quick one-two to the Utahraptors leaves them wobbly. T starts working on the Utahraptor's stomach while the stunned Utahraptor helplessly tries to defend himself. T finishes with an superpowerful bite to Utahraptor's neck, and Utahraptor is out before he hits the floor. Yes, Mr T. Rex is certainly the best dinosaur around, and he always will be!
from STEVE, age ?, ?, ?, ?; May 10, 2001

Well Dienonychus President, I am a big Dienonychus but I have to go with T-Rex in this battle of skewed culinary tastes. While it was not an easy one, my decision is based on one fact: Who will remain focused. T-Rex clearly has the advantage, since he is unquestionably one cool operator. (In all the JP movies, we can see T-Rex is intently focused on capturing his prey.)

One could envision Dienonychus getting sidetracked, perhaps with a young member of the pack, and not even completing the task at hand. I think there is also a significant probability that Dienonychus may have one of those fatal, but not altogether uncommon, slip and fall injuries due to walking on those sickle claws. T-rex would just proceed, possibly humming a few bars of his favorite opera, like the culinary artist that he is and produce a masterpiece, the hands down winner.
from SAM, age 15, LA, CA, USA; May 10, 2001

I think T-Rex is better than the raptors, and you want to see why?

Ok, so the raptors are made up of hardened veterans and they outnumber T-Rex & Co, but in all of their fights, have they ever really hurt anyone with their fancy footwork and pack hunting? No! All that ever happens is that their prey herbivores turn over and die. T-Rex will no doubt foresee this and not build any kind of transport. Instead he'll mix together some kind of crazy-glue from Triceratops droppings and dirt. Armed with this he will face the raptors totally unprotected, since they by definition _cannot_ hit him if he is not a herbivore. Then glues the raptors to the ground and waits for them to suffocate.
from M. Wangel, age ?, ?, ?, ?; May 10, 2001

Tyrannosaurus is certainy better than the Utahraptor or whatsoever-. I seriously doubt that even rabid Utahraptors could be capable of anything more than an annoying screech. It is that annoying screech which will be there downfall. Soon after the gates are opened all the Utahraptors will come out, eyes bulging, and screech. Not bite, but screech, on and on, over and over until the insanely annoyed Utahraptor goes on a crazed, blood-filled rampage devoring their A-1 bodies in approximately 20 seconds. Utahraptors stinks! Tyrannosaurus rules!
from R. Lee, age 11, Ok City, Ok, USA; May 10, 2001

Are some people saying the raptors have even a remote chance of beating T.rex?

What?!! True, the raptors have the numbers advantadge, but those won't be nearly enough. Those little rug rats won't even be able to break the skin on that big dinosaur! That T.rex is 100+ pounds of yip-raptor smashing muscle! Have you ever seen a REAL chihuahua, Mario and Dienonychus President? What are they good for? All they ever do is shake and pee on themselves and get their arses wooped in the JP movies. This is like saying 24 flies are a match for a bullfrog. No way. No matter how many there are, they can't do any damage to that Tyrannosaur. Snack time.

Velociraptor is better than T.rex?? You're kidding right? T.rex is 20 feet tall and 40 feet long, weighting 6 tons while Velociraptor tops the scale at 30-40 kilos at 4 feet tall???? Velociraptor would look to T.rex like some toy army-man and T.rex would have no problem smashing it to an ugly flat splatter of meat on the ground.. Also, scientists now suspect Velociraptor was not anywhere near as smart or as fast or as deadily as in the JP movies while they now think T.rex was smarter and faster than any raptor (including Velociraptor) I just can't see how Velociraptor can be better, and all the points put forward by Velociraptor fans to promote their dinosaur are nothing more than childish put-downs to T.rex! I'm sorry, but paleontology is about rational, logical science, not stupid and childish put-downs. Thus as of so, I think T.rex is the best!
from Da Dinosaur Man, age ?, ?, ?, ?; May 10, 2001

Let me tell you why T.Rex is better than any raptor...

I see people saying how the raptors could beat T.Rex, but if they used their brains they would see the obvious: How could an argument as one-sided as this ever linger over the (supposedly) intelligent memebers of the internet community? I'm so shocked I don't even know where to begin... I guess I'll start off with the obvious. The Tyrannosaurus can pulverize a hardosaur in a bite! Even with the raptors "givin' her all she's got," there's no way any raptor could withstand even one hit by that thing. And that's just the jaw. Tyrannosaurus could also use other physical attacks like stomping and ramming, each of which would cause Utahraptor & Co. to go flying over the bridge railing if they hit them. And of course, hitting a raptor wouldn't be difficult at all considering Tyrannosaurus's almost as manuverable as the raptor. Also, did I mention that Tyrannosaurs probally hunted in groups? Multiples of them would descend on a raptor pack and chomp them into smithereens. Also, did I mention the superior mobility and ! strength of Tyrannosaurus? It would use it to outdistance any ol' raptor and tire it out while the monster jaw gets warmed up...

Ok, now let's look at what the raptors can do. A) Try to bite Tyrannosaurus or kick at it. Oh no! You've ruined the new skin treatment on my Tyrannosaurus! The Tyrannosaurus is so huge, that the raptors could hit at it all day and still not do anything significant to it. (Like big T. would allow it to) B) Run away. Yes, they could do that. They better do that if they want to live.

Even in a pack, I doubt raptors made too much more of a difference. Remember, skeletons of four Deinonychus were found attacking a plant eater who died in the process. And not to mention, Tyrannosaurus is about 5 times heavier and larger and boasts a good set of claws and teeth to go. Deinonychus puree anyone?

So it is, Tyrannosaurus will win in 3.7 seconds if it's a single raptor, 19.7 if it's a pack.

And yes, this is a vote for Tyrannosaurus
from Steve, age ?, Why T.Rex is better, Why T.Rex is better, then any ol' raptor; May 10, 2001

Who needs a sickle claw??? Virtually all of the superefficent predators designs in our modern day do NOT HAVE SICKLE CLAWS! If anything, they seem to place the emphasis on killing with their JAWS! And apparently, T.Rex mastered that a long time ago...The raptors also bought it in the extinction, dun you forget.

Reasons why T.Rex dun have sickle claws:

1. It was too cool to have claws, who needs lously claws when you have a powerful jaw fulla teeth.

2. One bite of a T.Rex jaw does 20 times the damage of a slash by a sickle claw.

3. Break a tooth? Grow it back. Break a sickle claw? You have a useless piece of junk on your toe!

4. Sickle claws today are mainly found on chickens (rooster spurs) and coysarry birds, all of which are not fearsome predators... apparently, sickle claws are for cowards! Awesome jaws (which T.Rex had), well, are found in all superpredator designs in times past and today!

5. It's easier to attack and aim your jaw then with a sickle claw on your foot.

So the conclusion I draw is, T.Rex having a jaw is wayyyyyyy cooler, and pratical then any raptor, so he's the best dinosaur!

My favorite is the Utahraptor. I like the idea of a dinosaur that thinks, lives in a family group, and can beat the blood out of any other dinosaur out there.
from Stephanie N., age 15, Terry, MS, USA; May 8, 2001

I dunno who is the lame person who voted Spinosaurus, but in real life, T.Rex's super powerful jaw and ability to take damage, plus its speed and agility, will be more than enough to overpower the thin, weak-jawed Spinosaurus. Sorry whoever that Spinosaurus fan is, but you just made your dinosaur look stupid.

The Allosauros-
I like this dinosaur the best because it's the largest meateater that lived in the crecacious period. It had a long tail, strong legs, a powerful jaw that had sharp teeth inside. I also like it because it was a tough dinosaur.

I vote Velociraptor mongolienesis cause they're very intelligent. They hunted in packs like lions do today. Velociraptor mongolienesis has a sickle-shaped claw on the second toe of their foot. That's why i vote for Velociraptor mongolienesis and not Tyrannosaurus rex like the rest of you.

So, some raptor fans have problems with T.rex being more popular again?

Here you have two of the most sophisticated, cunning, tactical dinosaurian minds in history, squaring off against one another. When two intellectual giants like this square off, not even Gary Kasparov can keep up. I'm imagining the fight will start with the pair of geniuses engaging in some light prefight banter, while simultaneously taking painstaking care to make sure their suggestive undertones address the opponent's weak points. However, I believe the fight may actually come down to a physical confrontation. In that case, we need an equation.

Let X equal the number of total Tyrannosaur popularity votes in the known universe. Let Y equal the number of times the raptors can possibly get "angrier" due to being less popular without succumbing to an aneurysm. Since the raptors gets stronger when he gets angrier (designated [Zi r = Zf]) and Tyrannosaurus popular vote ability allows him to attain a level above his opponents strength ([Zi+1 = Zf],) the only way one of these combatants is going to lose is if the source of their power gives out. Thus if X is greater than Y, T.rex wins. If Y is greater than X, the raptors wins. This is relatively untenable until one realizes that a female T.rex is selected to fight the match (As they are the meanest T.rexes). Since that is the case, there will be twice as many X chromosomes in the Room as Y chromosomes. Since X > Y, T.rex wins and gets my vote.

Tyrannosaurus Rex is certainly better than any species of raptor, do you know why? Because the raptors all suffer from the dreaded curse of "Raptors MUST Lose" (tm.)

"Raptors MUST Lose" (tm.): A superstition whose origins lie with the generic raptor's lopsided defeat to the Tyrannosaurus Rex in the first Jurassic Park movie. From then on, each time any dinosaur from the raptor species got into an offical match, it was defeated in the end, examples being Jurassic Park, The lost World (By the humans) DinoWarz (By the Tyrannosaur Sisters) and a lot more. Note: This postulate should not be confused with the similar concepts of "Tyrannosaurus Rex MUST win" and ...

And that's why my vote is for Tyrannosaurus Rex. Weep raptor fans, weep.
from Steve K., age 13, ?, ?, USA; May 7, 2001

To a Deinonychus presadent: Why did T.Rex not have a sickle claw? Because it has a better way to kill! Who needs sickle claws when you can chomp through Tungsten alloy bars with your jaws? T.Rex's oral weaponary makes the sickle claws of even Megaraptor look like a toy knife, not to mention the sissy raptor called Deinonychus. I vote T.Rex.

Scream and protest all you want. The votes will just keep pouring in for T.Rex. In fact, if my predictions are not wrong, the more you insult T.Rex, the more people will vote for him as they love that dinosaur and insulting it will only provoke them to vote. So fans of other dinosaurs! Insult all you want...in fact, I ENCOURAGE you to insult T.Rex, you are only making things worse for yourself!

Guys! Keep pumping votes for T.Rex! Being the first dino to breach 100, we angered many other dinosaur fans who saw their dino lagging behind. When we breached 1000, we left our critics speechless when the clesest was only at 400+. When we reached 2000, we widened the gap even more, and left outher dinosaur fans chocking and gagging for a response. When we breaches 3000, some of the dinosaur fans (many from the raptor department) went insane and devoted their lives to attacking T.Rex. Now we are just at the brink of exceeding 4000 VOTES! Lets add insult to the injury! Lets show how miserable all other dinosaurs really are! Lets show to the other dinosaur fans that no-matter-how-much-you-say-your-dinosaur-is-the-best-nobody-cares-as-your-dinosaur-is-wayyyyyyyyyy-behind-so-what-you-say-or-do-means-absolutely-nothing-hahahahahahaha! Velociraptor

He's one of the smallest Raptors and his sickle claw could get up to 4 inches. A pack of 4 could kill a Tenontosaurus in 3 minutes. They are really a lot smarter then a Tyrannosaurus. It's not T-rex it's Tyrannosaurus! Though as i was saying many raptors like Dromeosaurus, Velociraptor, and Dienonychus. There was only one type of Dinosaur that was smarter then Raptors. Those Dinosaurs were the Troodontids. They also had sickle claws. But since the Troodon were smaller their sickle claws were too. But this is still a vote for Velociraptor.
