SPNINOSAUROUS
with out a doubt. i dont care if u think im saying this because of the movie.u only need to look at the facts
- full skeleton has been found
- strong, three clawed for arms. (not puny like t.rex)
- as large or larger in some cases than t-rex
- temp regulator on its back so it could heat up early and go hunting
before other dinosaurs
- it was with-out a doubt a hunter and not a scavenger (t.rex does both, mainly scavenging)

Compsignatheus- I like compsignatheus because they must have been some of the smartes dinos. The supporting evidence is that they had one of the largest brain cavities of any dino compared to their body mass. I didn't write about T-Rex because he is too well known and some other dinos should get a spot of glory. Yes I am only 1 year old.

"Even if T. Rex got a good bite in on Spino Spino could still tear at T. Rex with it's enourmous clawed hands. And how does that person know that Gigantosaurus' jaws were weaker than T. Rex's? And that Spinosaurus only ate fish?"

The truth is, if T. Rex got any bite on spino anywhere, Spino would drop dead. T. Rexes mouth was powerful enough to exert a great enough force to crack Spino's bones. After that one bite, T. Rex could let go before Spino even got the chance to claw at T. Rex, and if the preliminary bite didn't kill Spino, Spino would bleed to death. We also know that Spino ate only fish because that's what his jaws were designed to do: grab fish. Gigantosaurus' bite was also weaker than T. Rex's. How do I know? If he could bite that hard, his teeth would snap when they reached bone.

"If Gigantosaurus was fighting T. Rex it would probably just bite T. Rex in the neck and then chew down dropping it. and then T. Rex would get ripped open by Gigantosaurus."

Gigantosaurus couldn't bite hard enough on T. Rex's neck to do much. T. Rex's neck is too muscular to resist the biting force anyway. If Gigo got close enough to T.Rex to get his neck, T. Rex could easily move around so he was in a position ready to get at Gigo's neck.

Face it. Gigo and Spino were large, but lightly built, while T. Rex is 8 tons of teeth and muscle. Here's one vote for the true king, T. Rex.

Two words. Tyrannosaurus Rex. The king of dinosaurs. Sure, they are finding new dinosaurs, like Carcharodontosaurus, and Gigantosaurs, that are close to, or even a little bit larger, but T-rex, is simply, the . . . KING.

Spinosaurus' jaws are long and slim, which would probably be more adept for grabbing fish out of the water.Being so thin, Spino's jaws were weak and could have only done tiny cuts and bruises to a 14 foot tall herbivore like the one you mentioned. If he did try biting one, he'd probably lose a good amount of teeth, too, if he tried pulling and ripping at the herbivores flesh. Spinosaur was adept for spending most of his time in the water, probably eating fish, than walking around as a big game hunter like the film JP3 portrayed him as. The only time he would have even though of eating a herbivore that big was if he stumbled onto one already dead.

This argument of whose the best dinosaur seems to revolve around Spinosaurus, Gigantosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus Rex. Lets compare each.

Spinosaurus: A big, lightly built theropod looking for an easy fish. It had long, five foot arms sporting a large claw on each hand. It lived near the shoreline feeding on fish. It's main competition for resources was other Spinosaurs and perhaps crocodiles/alligators. It sail was virtually useless (aside that it may have helped regulate body temperature [however unlikely that is] and attrackting mates]. Spinosaurus also had weak jaws.

Gigantosaurus: This may have been bigger that Tyrannosaurus, but not much bigger. This thing had long, slim serrated teeth which were designed to rip flesh, that's it. If these teeth hit bone, they'd snap. Really, the Gigantosaurus would rely on gettin in one good bite on it's prey, then backing off to let the thing it was hunting bleed to death. One the prey died, then gigo would feed.

Tyrannosaurus: Ah, a king among kings. Tyrannosaurus was heavily built, with powerful and muscular legs which would help him, in short bursts, reach speeds exceeding 40km/h. He also had a muscular tail, which acted as a counter-balance to support his gigantc head. T. Rex also had a head of thick, sharp teeth which were designed to penetrate flesh and crack bones. If this wasn't enough, T. Rex's muscular head could also exert a force so powerful through the mouth that it is still unmatched by any other creature today. Some claim that T.Rex was handicapped by it's small arms, but who needs small arms when you've got jaws like that, eh? If anything, long spinosaurian arms on T.Rex would just get in the way of his powerful jaws.

Some claim that T. Rex was a scavenger. T Rex may have scavenged at times, but I find that something that fierce looking would rely on scavenging to feed itself. Spino and Gigo fans may say that T. Rex used his acute sense of smell to detect carrion, but I disagree. Think of blood hounds. They may not have the best vision like a T. Rex, but they still make excellent hunters. Seeing as T. Rex was half blind, he could have used his sense of smell to help him hunt.

Once T. Rex spotted prey, all he needed was one bonecrunching bite and the creature was down. Seeing as T. Rex was highly intelligent and fast, it would have had no problem doing so. Once he got a bite on a rival theropod like Spinosaur or Gigantosaur, if the sheer force from the bite didn't cause them to drop dead, then the animal would bleed to death while T. Rex watched from a distance. Though both Spinosaur and Gigantosaurus were bigger than T. Rex, they weren't as powerfully built and would just snap under that kind of pressure exerted by T. Rex's jaws.

Face it Spinosaurus fans, you were just drawn in by the showiness of Spino and the fact that Spino beat T. rex in the movie. let's remember, it's just Hollywood, and they're there to entertain, not portray cold, hard facts. As for you Gigo fans, you were drawn in by Gigo's size and the fact that he was a new discovery. Let's face it, T. REx could whoop either of their big, reptillian butts any day.

Tyrannosaurus Rex - Jack Horner (paleontologist) was the consultant for JP3. He has been trying to discredit T. Rex as a ferocious killer for some time now. I personally think he is trying to make a name for himself with a bogous theory that he created and hoping people will believe it if they keep hearing it (that is that T. Rex was a scavenger and could not hunt). If you want to know what T. Rex was probably like, read what Paleontologist Bob Baaker has to say. His theories are more in line with animal behavior that can be seen by observing African and North American predators like hyenas and wolves.

Spinosaurus is the last specis in a long line of weak jawed, light bodied sauropods. Very little of Spino has been found but most evidence points to a fish eating dino, like it's closest cousin Baroynx something like that, I forgot how to spell it. Spino really lacks the the neccessary equipment for a good hunter.
First are the teeth. T-rex has backward curving serrated daggers that are a foot long, with 2/3 of the tooth anchored tight in the extremely deep skull. Spino has cone teeth built for gripping fish. But they are not backwards curving, making it easy for the Spino to remove the fish from it's jaws to swallow it. Spinosaurus has extremely swallow jaws so the teeth are poorly rooted.
Second are the jaws. T-rex has jaws that are extremely deep( tall) making then strong, but also light. One look and you can tell it was designed to bite down with incredible force. The Spino has thin, swallow jaws designed to be nimble and dextrous in snapping up fish. These jaws would not have been capable of bitting down with any real force. Spino's relative Dilophosaursus (still can't spell) had jaw bones that were wafer thin, and Spino's jaws might not have been much better.
Lastly and most importantly is the next. Most theropods like T-rex had the distinctive S-curve neck. T-rex's neck was short and heavyily muscled. The S-curve allowed the muscles to have cross attachments where they had better leverage, think fist versus open hand. Spinosaursus was odd to be one of the few theropods missing this S-curve, probably to extend the length of his reach so it could reach more fish. Spino's neck was also thin, long, and weak.
Spino probably could not out-fight the allosaursus of the period. It just simplely was not built for killing. A pure fish eating like the harmless gharials of today. The Spino was probably a rare site in it's day, patiently catching fish, ready to flee from an Allosaurus that might give it trouble. If T-rex did fight Spinosaurus, the Spino would have certainly been slaugtered.

Even if T-rex got a good bite in on Spino, Spino could still tear at t-rex while it was biting it with it's enormousc claws on it's arms. And how does that person know that Gigantasaurus had weaker jaws than T-rex? And how does he know that Spino only ate fish? Who cares about size? T-Rex was built like Mike Tyson while Giganotosaurus was built much more lightly, paleontologists state that even if Giganotosaurus was larger, T-Rex is certainly going to be much stronger and faster, and that makes T-Rex much more mean. So who is now king of the dinosaur?
Well first of all, there are much more important factors than size. Though T-REX isn't the largest carnosaur, he pretty much dominates in almost every other category. First of all T-REX was a much smarter and more evolved carnosaur than Gigan or Spino. T-REX was built for both speed and power, it was powerful and fast. Secondly, the power in T-REX's jaw was far greater than that in Spinosaurus and Giganotosaurus. One bite from a T-REX's jaw to either of their necks and they would be as good as dead. T-REX's arms were small so it could support such a powerful jaw. And finally third, T-REX dominated the food chain. The truth is that Giganotosaurus was a scavenger and Spinosaurus was nothing more than a fish eater. T-REX was specifically evolved to kill other giant dinosaurs. There's more to being king of the dinosaurs than just size.

I think larger Giganatosaurs do exist undiscovered, but I'm willing to wager quite a bit of money that they are not too much larger than the current Giganatosaur. They will probably max out at 50 feet, about the same size as Rigby's Rex. Most will probably be 40-45 feet however. But for now, Giganatosaurus remains at 43 feet in length.

bt I like him too but it kinda (*^& we have no more remains of him. Plus trex sucks even though i don't mind, him his arms are too short. You spino fans are entitled to your opinions, but, T-Rex was more powerful and it probably wouldn't lose to spino in a real battle. T-Rex was unrivaled in killing power among the dinosaurs. Even if some theropods were a bit longer. Also I just read that a new T-Rex bone was found that may belong to the largest Cranivorous dinosaur yet found. Yes, that means that this T-Rex could be bigger than Spinosaurus, Giganotosaurus, or maybe even bigger than that new South American Theropod. But, still, the rest of the bones have yet to be discovered. T-Rex was the smartest, strongest and most advanced of any Carnosaur. I have to argee with some of the things Lilian Tay said. First of all, before, not many skeletons of Deinosuchus were found. When not many bones of a prehistoric animal are known, many size estimates are made. So, back then, people thought the Deinosuchus could be as small as 25 ft. or as large as 60 ft. as Andrew said. Now that more bones are turning up, many scientists believe Deinosuchus was 30 to 40 ft. long. Still an impressive creature. I do believe that there were giant gators, but they probably didn't reach 100 ft. Scientists have found evidence of very large Crocodiles though. I don't know much about Megalodon, so I'll leave that to other people. While I'M here, I might as well vote for T-Rex.

Estimates on an animal's maximum size are based on physics and structural integrity. For example, the ant is capable of lifting 50 times its own weight at its current size. However, if we enlarged it to the size of a human, because of the way its built would only be able to life 0.17 times its weight. Thats like a human struggling to lift 19 lbs with both arms!!! But even before it could lift anything, its legs would shatter and the ant would collapse and "explode" under its own weight. That is why we do not see ants larger than about 3 inches.

The same applies to reptiles. A 100 foot, 40 ton crocodile is impossible, as its skeleton would be unable to endure the stresses of this size. Therefore, a 100 foot crocodile would actually look much different from the crocodile we see today, as it would need to adapt considerably to support its new bulk.

Its amusing to picture such an animal. A 100 foot crocodile attempts to haul itself onto the sand bar to bask in the sun, but upon putting its weight on its forelegs, they snap like twigs and it comes crashing down to the ground. The resulting impact shatters several ribs, breaks its shoulder blade and dislocates its jaw. The great croc lies helplessly until it bleeds to death internally.

Oh yeah, and new estimates of Deinosuchus's actual length, based on new specimens, are placed at around 40 feet at the most. (See Dino Talk page, where Honkie has posted something on it).

Actually Andrew, the latest estimates of Deinosuchus have actually SHRUNK to 38 feet after more fossils have been found and our understanding of the animal more complete. I'm sorry, but the trend in size estimates are actually going backwards, not forward as our knowledge of these animals increase. Sorry, no 60 foot Deinosuchus here. And you stupid fool! The largest saltwater croc was 33 FEET long, not 28 feet long! You dun even know your critters.

First of all I do not who it is that is making these reponses to my reply about the Deinosuchus megalodon, and the giant gator but there is proof about their estimates and in fact

Let me tell you something, the giant gator is NOT fiction and this was no mistake that scientists made and I have read this in different dinosaur books.

SO FAR many scientists around the world have discovered hundreds of dinosaurs and there are hunreds of prehistoric dinosaurs that are unknown and you cannot assume that they do not exist because you have not heard about them. I know about them really well because I read about them and you just think that these creatures are nothng but fiction and I am trying to tell you about some new prehistoric creatures that once existed and they may stil roaming the earth only they have not been discovered.

But of course you are entitled to your opinion and so am I.

also just because scientists have lots of research about certain animals that existed or once existed that does not mean that thier research is always correct expecially when it comes to their length, height or weight and it is like the scientists are saying that the animals have reached their maximum length or height and they cannot get any bigger then their maximum. WRONG

Scientists absolutey have no idea how big animals can really get because it is like they are unestimating them and just because they have done lots and lots of research that does not mean that their reserach is always going to be correct it is not possible for them to know everything about animals neither could they say that they do not think an animal such as the giant gator doesn't exist because they have not heard about it and they cannot just assume that it did not exist.

And here is an example of a big mistake the deinosuchus. This gigantic crocodile was 50 feet or more in length and scientists just think that it cannot be bigger than 50 feet well how do they know that? where they here when that giant crocodile was living? NO IMPOSSIBLE so scientists do not know who big such big prehistoric creatures could really grow and they think that they are 100% correct because they have done lots of research well they cannot think twice that their research could be 100% wrong. it is like scientists are making an end line and the animals cannot pass it. NObody really knows how big DEINOSUCHUS was and how much it weighed. NOT EVEN THE SCIENTISTS. Scientists are just assuming that deinosuchus was only 50 feet long and they do not believe that it could grow any bigger it has to stay at it's limit.

Also the MEGALODON the prehistoric ancestor of the great white shark. Scientists are making another mistake they think the same way of the giant shark as they think of the deinosuchus. MEGALODON was 100 feet or more in length and it had to weigh more than 100 tons and scientists are only estimating that this giant shark only reached lengths of up to 50 feet or below. HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT where they here when megalodon was roaming or did they get in the water and measure it? or just because their research says there is so much that scientists do not know about the megalodon

Last but not least the GIANT GATOR this is the creature that whoever it was that is thinking that I was making this up and it is nothing but a fan creation. THE GIANT GATOR is one of the unknown creatures that scientists do not know about in fact the giant gator is studied by a different type of scientists called MONSTEROLOGISTS-scientists who study monsters.

MONSTEROLOGISTS also study the megalodon, and phobosuchus another name for deinosuchus and they think about these gigantic creature they do not just take one opinion but alot of opinions. THe giant gator was 100 or more in length and weighing possibly around 60 tons or more and there is still much more that they do not know about.

ANd I am not saying that monsterologists say that the giant gator, megalodon and deinosuchus are huge because I want them to be. I understand monsterologists could also be wrong about their research but I would not doubt it because like again I said that NO SCIENTISTS including the MONSTEROLOGISTS know how big animals could really get.

This is for all the people who voted for Suchomimus, especially "Suchonathus" You might or might not know these facts but just in case... First of all, the two ancient greek words SUCHO and MIMUS together mean " crocodile mimic" So basically what that means is that the scientists who named this dinosaur are saying that it very closely resembled Crocodilians. And what do we know about Crocodiles? We know that they live in or around water and that they ate mostly water animals. Therefore scientists believe that since Suchomimus was so similar it probably ate fish like it's smaller cousin Baryonyx. It did not have the same jaw strength as carnosaurs like T-Rex and Giganotosaurus. It might have been longer than those dinosaurs but it was not as muscular, which means it was not as STRONG! It's bite would have been considerably weaker than Tyrannosaurus though and your MEGALODON was not a dinosaur, it was a shark. 100 feet for MEGALODON is certainly excessive. 40-50 feet is a better estimate, but it was still an impressive animal. But Andrew, I'm afriad to say you don't know your prehistoric animals at all!

I don't buy that the Giant Gator really exists, there are many problems to be derived from having such an excessive croc design. At 100 feet and 60 tons, You get an animal with sprawing legs that weighted almost as much as a brachiosaur, my guess is, such an animal will be so massive, he'll hardly be dangerous as he can't manage more than a amble of 2 kilometers an hour! Even the largest marine predators do not get to these sizes as they would be ridiculusly clumsly. And ahem, there were no whales back when you said the Giant Gator existed. Please stop making up facts. Including the fictional Giant Gator...
