Word Wheels These two-page print-outs make word wheels; each one consists of a base page together with a wheel that spins around (they are connected by a metal brad). When you spin the wheel, words are formed or displayed. Heavy paper (like cardstock) makes better wheels. |

Make Words Word Wheel —u— Make a wheel about common words using this 2-page print-out; it consists of a base page together with two wheels that spin around. When you spin the wheels, many common compound words appear. The inner wheel has the letters b, c, d, h, p, r, s, and t. The outer wheel has the letter combinations: ub, ud, ug, un, up, ur, us, and ut. The student then writes down the compound words that are formed by the wheel (not every combination is a proper word). Possible answers: bud, bug, bun, bus, but, cub, cud, cup, cur, cut, dub, dud, dug, dun, hub, hug, hut, pub, pug, pun, pup, pus, put, rub, rug, run, rut, sub, sun, sup, tub, tug. |
US State Wheel This 2-page print-out makes a wheel about a single US state; the student fills out the information on the wheel. It consists of a base page together with a rear wheel that spins around. After putting the wheel together, the student follows the instructions on the front wheel (coloring in the state on a US map and drawing a small map of the state) and fills out the 12 sections of the wheel with information about one state. When you spin the wheel, facts about the US State appear, including: Biggest Cities, Capital, Flag, Bodies of Water, Postal Abbreviation, State Bird, Population (rank), Area (rank), Residents Called, Bordered by, Major Industries, and Entered Union (order). |
